I am very excited to announce a multi-part series (the first two of which are available now), where Jen Thomas, Tina Tao, and Elun Gabriel discuss different aspects of academic advising. The first episode focuses on the philosophical question of what it means to be a good advisor. In the second episode, they share their strategies for connecting with students on a personal level to facilitate better advising.
The next two episodes cover “The Practical” (what advisors need to know and need to do to be good advisors) and “Policies & Procedures” (reviewing the nuts and bolts of information all advisors should know, or know how to find).
The final two episodes will include one devoted to issues in first-year advising and a special listeners’ episode, answering your questions and sharing your tips about good advising. E-mail them your advising questions and ideas and they will include you in that episode.
Stay tuned for the next episodes to drop soon…
